These cover using this website and using Muxley. I have written them in plain English on purpose. Where they need to be exact, they are exact rather than vague.

Who you are dealing with

Muxley is made by S Perelson, a sole proprietor in South Africa. Throughout this page, "I" means S Perelson and "you" means you.

Muxley is sold through Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record. They are the seller for your purchase: they take the payment, charge any VAT or sales tax due, and their own buyer terms cover the transaction itself. This page covers your right to use the software, which is between you and me. If the payment provider changes, this paragraph changes with it.

What your licence lets you do

When you buy Muxley you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it on Macs you own or control, for as long as you like. Use it on your laptop and your desktop. Use it at work if the work is yours to do.

There is no device check and no activation server. Your key is verified on your own machine. That is a deliberate design choice, and I would rather trust you than build a licensing cage. The other side of that trust is the next section.

What your licence does not let you do

• Share, publish, resell, or sublicense your licence key. It carries your name; treat it like a password.
• Redistribute the app, repackaged or otherwise.
• Remove or work around the licensing.
• Take the app apart to build a competing product from what you find.

If you break these, the licence ends. Everything else stays in force.

Free and paid

Muxley has a free tier and a paid tier. The free tier is limited by feature, not by time. It does not expire, it does not nag you into buying, and you are welcome to stay on it forever.

The paid tier unlocks the features the app marks as Pro. I have deliberately not listed them here, because the list changes as Muxley grows and I would rather these terms stay true than go stale. What is in each tier is shown in the app and on the site.

Updates, and what the date on your key means

Your key carries a date. It is worth being precise about what that date does and does not do.

• Your licence does not expire. The version you have keeps working, and the features you paid for stay unlocked.
• The date covers new versions. Updates released up to that date are included in what you paid. After it passes, new releases may need a renewal.

So it is a licence you keep, with a window for updates. You will never open Muxley one morning and find it has locked you out because a date passed.

Refunds

14 days, no questions asked. If Muxley is not for you, mail support@muxley.app within 14 days of buying and I will refund you. You do not need to explain why, and I would rather hear the reason than keep the money.

Because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record, they process the actual refund, so it returns by the way you paid. You can also request it directly from the receipt they emailed you.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase, and buying Muxley does not sign that away. The policy above is meant to be at least as generous as the law requires, never less.

Third-party software inside Muxley

Muxley bundles its own copy of tmux, along with libevent, ncurses, and utf8proc, so it works on a Mac with no tmux installed. It also builds on a handful of open-source Swift packages, including Sparkle for updates. All of it is under permissive open-source licences, and the full licence texts ship inside the app at Contents/Resources/THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt. Those licences govern those components, not this page.

What I do not promise

Muxley is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. I do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose of yours. I have tried hard to make it good; that is not the same as a guarantee.

Two specifics, because vagueness here would be dishonest:

• Agent detection is a best effort. Muxley works out whether an agent is working, blocked, or finished by reading signals from tools I do not control. When those tools change, detection can get it wrong until I catch up. Do not build anything safety-critical on top of a status mark.
• Your layouts run your commands. Muxley starts whatever a layout tells it to start. It does not check whether those commands are sensible or safe. What your layouts do, and what your agents do inside them, is yours to own.

Limits on what I owe you if something goes wrong

If Muxley causes you a loss, my total liability is capped at what you paid me for it in the 12 months before the problem. If you are on the free tier, that figure is zero, and I am saying so plainly rather than hiding it.

I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss: lost profits, lost business, lost time, or lost or corrupted data, including work an agent did or failed to do inside a Muxley-launched session. Keep your own backups and your own version control, exactly as you would anyway.

Nothing here removes rights you have under law that cannot be excluded, including under South Africa's Consumer Protection Act or consumer law where you live. If any part of this section is unenforceable where you are, the rest still stands.

This website

The site is here to explain Muxley. The words, images, and code on it are mine unless stated otherwise. Read it, quote it, link to it, show a colleague. Do not pass it off as your own. If you join the waitlist, I will use your address to tell you about Muxley and nothing else, as set out in the privacy page.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the law where you live.

Changes to these terms

I may update this page. Your licence is governed by the version in force when you bought, so a later change cannot retroactively narrow what you paid for. If a change is significant and I have your email address, I will tell you.
